NURVA CORPORATION today announced the latest next generation prototype technology capable of high speed decontamination of personnel and equipment from a range of chemical and biological agents [DECOM-XR®].

This first phase system, a self contained, fully automated, lightweight, mobile unit represents a major advancement in decontamination technology and methods.

“There was an inherent need to rethink the current standards and technologies relating to the decontamination of personnel and equipment against chemical and biological warfare agents. The core constraints are exposure and time. Current decontamination systems have never delivered a mobile, fully automated, rapid cycling solution that exceeds the mandated requirements for the defense and civilian sectors. The [DECOM-XR®] rapid decontamination system utilizes high-power airflow (70mph+/-) in conjunction with a proprietary misting liquid dispersal technology to apply decontamination liquid agent over the personnel and equipment, all while ultraviolet, light-emitting diodes (UV LEDs) sanitize surfaces and filters out airborne contaminants. This entire process is complete in a matter of minutes. Comparing this to the current industry standard decontamination system, whereby personnel would just be preparing for the lengthy shower wash and scrub down methodology. "When dealing with chemical and biological contaminant exposure, minutes can represent a life and death scenario”, said Fernandez.
